Shopping for Model Y Juniper accessories in 2026 is harder than it was for the 2020–2024 car, and not for the reason most people expect. Everyone knows the refresh broke compatibility with legacy parts. What nobody warns you about is that the Juniper broke compatibility with itself — twice — in its first eighteen months on sale. A screen protector cut for a Juniper delivered in early 2025 will not fit a Juniper delivered last month. A grille insert sold as “2025 2026 Juniper” says on its own label that it does not fit the 2026 Standard or Performance.

1. Legacy or Juniper? The obvious split. The 2025 refresh changed the front fascia, the floor contours, the console and the rear geometry, so anything molded to those surfaces is generation-specific. 2. Which trim? This is the new one, and it's the trap most buyers walk into. The 2025–2026 Model Y is sold in several trims, and they differ enough inside that accessory makers have started naming the ones their parts don't fit. Three separate listings we checked carry an exclusion in the title itself — one grille insert reads “Not fit 2026 Standard & Performance,” a seat-back kick mat reads “Not for Standard,” and a floor mat set reads “Not fit Standard & YL.” A year ago those exclusions didn't exist.

Naming update (August 2026): Tesla retired the “Standard” trim name in early 2026 — the stripped-down base car that launched in October 2025 as the Model Y Standard is now badged simply as the Model Y (Rear-Wheel Drive), and Tesla added a lower-priced All-Wheel Drive alongside it. Accessory listings haven't caught up: exclusions still print “Standard.” If you own the base car — under either name — read “Standard” exclusions as applying to your car. The base trim really is a different parts list from the Premium, which is exactly why sellers started excluding it by name; no listing we've verified yet names the new All-Wheel Drive, so treat its fitment as unverified until sellers catch up.

3. Which screen? The one nobody talks about. See below — it deserves its own section.

The screen split: your Juniper may not have a 15.4-inch display

Early Juniper cars shipped with a 15.4-inch center touchscreen. The 16-inch QHD display started on Performance, moved to the Premium trims in early 2026, and then, as Not a Tesla App documented on June 5, 2026, Tesla quietly made it standard on the base RWD and AWD too — meaning every new U.S. Model Y now leaves the factory with it.

This is not a trim badge. The two displays are physically different panels:

Nearly an inch wider and a third of an inch shorter, in a different aspect ratio. A protector cut for one will overhang or under-cover the other — there is no “close enough.” And the market already reflects this: search Amazon and you'll find 15.4-inch protectors sold as “2025 Tesla Model Y Juniper Standard (Not for Premium & Performance)” right beside 16-inch protectors sold as “2026 Model Y Juniper (Premium & Performance).” The sellers have split the SKU because the cars are split.

What we could not verify — and won't pretend we did

A Juniper-cut glass-roof sunshade. The glass roof is still untinted and still bakes, so the need didn't go away, but the shade we recommend on our new-owner guide is listed for the 2020–2024 Model Y only, and we have no verified Juniper-specific replacement. We'd rather leave a hole in the guide than card a part that doesn't fit. The Model Y L is a different car again. The six-seat long-wheelbase L is not a trim of the Juniper — it's a longer body with captain's chairs and a third row. Several Juniper listings now exclude it by name (“Not fit Standard & YL”). Treat L fitment as its own problem.

The one category with zero fitment risk

Charging equipment. Charging gear connects to the charge port, not to the bodywork, so none of the three splits above touch it — and Tesla's own documentation reflects that. Tesla's Wall Connector support page lists charge rates for “Model Y” as a single line, split only by drivetrain (Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive cars cap at 32 A), with no legacy-versus-refresh distinction anywhere on the page. Wall connectors, mobile connectors, adapters and portable units carry over.

Some do, most molded ones don't. Windshield sunshades, rear vent covers, seat-back kick mats and all charging gear carry over. When in doubt, the rule is simple: if the part has to match a surface of the car, assume it's generation-specific.
